Uniforms

The FHSAA has decided to establish a specific uniform for playoff officials. The playoff uniform will include the following elements:

  • Black football slacks with an FHSAA logo. (Honig's is the only supplier of the slacks with a logo.)
  • Black and white collared shirt (short or long sleeve) with FHSAA logo on left chest and with an American flag either on center-back or the left shoulder.

This uniform will be required for playoff officials beginning THIS SEASON (2011). The uniform may be worn during the regular season with the FHSAA logo black pants. These are the black pants with the white stripe down the outside of each leg and are a lightweight version. Take a look at the Honig's website http://www.honigs.com/sub/32/P26. Please note that black pants WITHOUT the logo are permitted (local association adoption) during the regular season. The logo is required ONLY for the playoffs.

If you buy the pants individually, Honig's has the "FHSAA-logo" pants for $49.95 without being hemmed. If you wish them hemmed to length, there is an additional $10.00 charge. If we buy the pants with a bulk order (no minimum), Honig's is offering a price of $40 plus tax (around $42.40) without hemming. They suggested we find someone locally to do the hemming because we could likely get that done less expensively. Honig's will have samples of the pants on the Friday of the leadership conference weekend, June 24.This decision by the FHSAA is part of a partnership with Honig's to offer deals on educational and evaluation materials for FHSAA officials. The American flag (2"x3") will have a white border, not gold. The flag patches are also available through Honig's. We are awaiting a final decision on the location of the flag patch. The best recommendation for the MFOA may be to adopt the black slacks as our standard uniform for varsity contests. That way, we can get each official's size and buy them in bulk.Remember, the FHSAA insignia is not to be worn for non-FHSAA sanctioned contests, such as the MCYFL. For less than varsity level games the referee will decide what pants will be worn, shorts or knickers. All members are to have a long sleeved shirt available for colder weather
